Piles of Smiles Entertainment started 8 years ago as "Hits and Giggles Entertainment" of the Red River Valley. When asked what got us into this business, the story is best told by the owner, Kelly Smith.
“Well it was the KIDS! I have 5 of my own actually. When we moved to the Red River Valley 12 years ago I noticed something. If you wanted entertainment for kids, you basically had to go to a restaurant or do the entertaining yourself. I began organizing local events for kids of all ages by volunteering my time with other organizations. I organized things that are fun for everyone like indoor trick or treat events at nursing homes and a ‘Shopping with Santa’s Elves’ event. I have been planning these types of events ever since. We then moved on to delivering Singing Telegrams. I am not the singer in our family. My oldest daughter is well known for her singing in the community. Growing up I had an actual fear of singing in front of others. My daughter did a fundraiser for Valentine’s Day when she was 9 (delivering singing telegrams all over town) and I saw the happiness that she created everywhere she went that day. That is when my business was born. I wanted to make others laugh and feel special just the way she made others feel that day. That desire has gotten me over my fear and started our family business. We no longer offer the service of singing telegrams other than during the Valentine’s Day season since we concentrate now on children's entertainment. I then received a scholarship to Mooseburger Clowning Arts. This is where I learned the skills of face painting, balloon twisting, and magic which are the cornerstones of what is now Piles of Smiles Entertainment. I knew when I started this venture that I wanted to bring the local children a level of professionalism that they had not seen before (unless they go to Disney World). The children deserve the best; and that is what we strive for. My daughters all help in the business in different ways and are my crew, helpers, and everything in between. I love working with my family and it shows. Piles of Smiles is all about kids....starting with my own”
